After 2.5 years of calling my Substack “The Weekly Digress,” I’ve decided to rename her, and I hope you guys accept her new identity.
When I first signed onto Substack, my “newsletter” was something I sent once a week, hence “The Weekly Digress.” But because this space has completely replaced my blog, I felt the name needed to be more all-encompassing.
I often start my Instagram stories with either a written or spoken “also…” in a tone that suggests we’ve been talking. That’s because the conversation I have with my audience is ongoing. It never turns off in my head. When anything happens throughout my day, I’m taking mental notes to “also” you guys on it later.
You know how they say the best friendships are the ones where you always pick up where you left off? Like no time has passed? Like you could’ve not spoken for months, and they hit you with an “also.” text and you know it’s on?
That’s us. That’s me. That’s EMMASTHING.
I wrote it in sharpie on a piece of computer paper and uploaded to use as the logo because I wanted the “design” to be in-house. Hope you like.

As much as I love shopping, I love the thrill of returning even more. Immediately requesting a return, printing the return label, taping the box shut, and dropping it off makes me feel alive and like I’m coming into free money!!! It’s great when things work out, but it’s far more interesting to talk shit about them when they don’t.
July saw A LOT of returns. I felt like I basically kept nothing, but that’s all about to change as I work with a stylist who’s going to help me better understand my shape and, subsequently, the kind of clothes that are going to flatter me most. So stay tuned for that.
