BREAKING: Senior Copywriter Available for Work
Consider this my blanket cover letter to you all, and let's get this girl a job.
It’s been nearly eight years since I interviewed for a job. Back in 2018 while I was working as the lead copywriter for Match.com, I was given the chance to interview for the same kind of position for rewardStyle/LTK HQ here in Dallas. I worked hard on my interview assignment, presented it, got the job and went on to make lifelong friends and have the best work experience of my life thus far.
When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, though, everything changed for everyone. Although I had been writing on the side throughout my professional career, I saw an opportunity to take that side hustle full-time and become a freelance writer, and so I did.
For the last six years, while I’ve taken on plenty of one-off writing jobs, I’ve had two steadfast retainer clients I could always rely on to give me work and pay for said work. However, in January, one of those clients had to let me go for admittedly savvy business reasons. They were kind enough to pay me severance through March, then having Rhodes in April and adjusting to being a mom of two has preoccupied my brain since. But now?
Now it’s time to get (back) to work. And I’m hoping y’all can help.
This letter is fully me taking advantage of the incredible network and community of readers I’ve built to help spread the word that I’m for hire. So let me explain what it is I actually do and what kind of work I’m looking for.
I am a copywriter by trade. That is, I write words for everything. For websites, social media, scripts (TV/radio/any and all reels + videos), email campaigns, menus, brochures, push notifications, apps, billboards — if there are words to be read, a copywriter wrote them. I have a strong background with both traditional advertising agencies as well as in-house marketing teams. While words are my bread and butter, I’m also extremely well-versed in all things affiliate marketing (i.e. running LTK and ShopMy accounts, which I’m really trying to get into! I love doing it), content strategy and creation (obviously), lending my voice for voiceover talent or my face for on-camera needs, and writing killer Substacks (obviously, again).
I’m looking for a senior-level or above role and am open to either long-term contract (6 months+) or full-on full-time. I’d like to be fully remote, but am open to a hybrid situation (some days in-office, some at home) if it makes sense.
So, please — spread the word. Send my resume (uploading a picture of it in this letter for you to save), send my website (www.emmagoldenmiller.com), hell — send my email (emma@emmasthing.com). If you think you may have a lead but aren’t sure it falls in my wheelhouse, reach out and we can talk about it.
Thank you in advance for helping your girl make her next career move. I’ll of course keep everyone abreast of what comes up.
XOX,
EGM

One avenue you may want to look into is helping companies write business proposals. I know, stimulating! But a needed skill. Many engineering/architecture/construction firms have to put together qualifications packages when submitting bids.
Also, why did I think you went to U of Georgia?!
I'm excited to see what is next for you! (and can vouch for your writing being the most fun-to-read, digestible content I consume)
